Villa Gislöv
The sea is always within view, marking the horizon. A strip of sand and blue water are all that separate the plot from the sea. There, on the plot, in the seaside wood, the towering pines sway in the wind, providing shade and shelter.
The single-floor house was designed for a middle-aged couple with inspiration from traditional holiday homes. A low, robust house with the sea always a present factor. Brick walls provide rhythm, stability and varied spaces both indoors and out. On top, a flat, lightweight roof juts out, providing shade from the sun. Glass or wood sections interrupt the brickwork of the walls: more glass on the south side to take in the views; more wood, closed off and private, towards the north side and the courtyard, which is framed by the garage and the guest cottage.
